PEMF and Inflammatory and Tenogenic Responses in Human Tenocytes

Cells, Aug 2026

This lab study exposed human tendon cells (tenocytes) to PEMF under three inflammation models. PEMF reduced several inflammatory markers, increased cell proliferation in the acute models, and improved wound-closure assays mainly in mild or acute inflammation. The authors suggest the inflammatory stage of the tissue may influence how cells respond to PEMF and should be considered in future clinical studies. One author is employed by the company that supplied the PEMF device.
