Electrical Stimulation Therapies for Bone Healing: A Network Meta-analysis

Am J Phys Med Rehabil, Oct 2026

This network meta-analysis pooled 37 randomized controlled trials (3,325 participants) comparing electrical stimulation therapies for bone healing. Across the trials, electrical stimulation was associated with higher bone healing rates than controls, with pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) and combined magnetic fields among the better-performing approaches. The authors note that more high-quality trials are needed to confirm the findings.
