A dairy cow can go from seemingly normal to needing immediate attention in a matter of hours. That’s exactly what happened when MagnaWave Practitioner Wendy Grogan received a call about a dairy cow in North/West New Jersey.
The cow, who was serving as a surrogate dam for two Hereford calves, had been doing well that morning. By the afternoon, she was down.
The owner had worked with Wendy before and asked if she could come provide MagnaWave PEMF while they waited for the veterinarian to arrive. When Wendy got there, she observed that the cow appeared uncomfortable and her breathing was labored.
Supporting Comfort While Waiting for Veterinary Care
Wendy brought her MagnaWave Maia Pro and provided a full-body PEMF session lasting approximately 30 minutes.
Using the Wave Wings, she worked around the cow’s hips, shoulders, and midsection. Because the cow was showing considerable movement in response to the PEMF, Wendy kept the Maia Pro at setting 2.
As the session progressed, Wendy observed the cow becoming calmer and more comfortable.
When the veterinarian arrived, the cow was diagnosed with milk fever. The veterinarian administered calcium and magnesium, followed by vitamin B12 after the MagnaWave session.
MagnaWave was not being used to treat the cow’s milk fever or as a replacement for veterinary intervention. Instead, Wendy incorporated PEMF as a supportive modality focused on comfort, circulation, and recovery while veterinary care was on the way.
“In Just a Few Hours She Was UP!”
According to Wendy, the change in the cow’s comfort during the experience was noticeable.
“She was calm and content by the time vet got there… By the time he left she was resting very comfortably. In just a few hours she was UP!”
The photographs from the case tell an incredible story as well. During the MagnaWave session, the cow can be seen down with the Wave Wings positioned around her body. A later photograph shows her back on her feet beside her calf.
MagnaWave as Part of the Bigger Picture
Cases like this demonstrate an important part of animal wellness: complementary modalities and veterinary medicine don’t have to be an either/or decision.
In this case, MagnaWave was incorporated to support the cow’s comfort while veterinary care was being arranged. Once the veterinarian arrived, the cow received the medical care necessary for her diagnosed milk fever.
MagnaWave PEMF is commonly incorporated into animal wellness routines to support circulation, comfort, and the body’s natural recovery processes.
We’re grateful to practitioners like Wendy who work alongside animal owners and veterinary professionals to help support the animals in their communities.
