When a cow is down following calving, supporting her comfort and mobility can become an important part of her overall care.
For MagnaWave Practitioner Sarah Smith of Double S Wellness Wave in Cabot, Pennsylvania, this was the situation when she was called to work with a cow that had been down for approximately three days following calving.
Sarah’s goal was straightforward: use MagnaWave PEMF to support circulation and comfort, particularly through the cow’s hind end, while helping support comfortable movement.
A Full-Body MagnaWave Session
Sarah used her MagnaWave Sol Pro for an approximately 45-minute full-body session.
She spent about 20 additional minutes concentrating on the hind end and used a roller over areas that appeared more sensitive. The power of the machine was adjusted according to the cow’s comfort.
Sarah also noted that she had encountered similar situations before. In a separate case at the same barn, another cow became comfortable enough to stand following two sessions.
Every animal and situation is different, however, which is why MagnaWave sessions can be adapted according to the animal’s response and comfort.
Later That Evening…
Sarah completed the session that afternoon.
That same evening, she received an update: the cow was up and bearing weight.
The before-and-after photos provide a striking look at the experience. The first shows the cow down with the MagnaWave large loop positioned over her hindquarters. In the second, the cow is back on her feet.
While it is impossible to attribute the cow standing to any single factor based on one field report, the case provides a great example of how practitioners incorporate MagnaWave into livestock wellness and recovery routines.
Why Use MagnaWave with Livestock?
MagnaWave PEMF can be incorporated into livestock wellness programs to support areas such as circulation, comfort, mobility, and recovery.
Sessions can also be adapted for the individual animal. In this case, Sarah used a full-body approach while spending additional time around the hind end.
She also shared an important safety reminder for other practitioners: she only secures coils with Velcro straps on animals she knows well because animals experiencing discomfort can startle unexpectedly.
It’s another reminder that good PEMF practice isn’t simply about the machine. It’s about understanding the animal in front of you.
