Do I need to be a veterinarian to use MagnaWave on animals?
No. MagnaWave machines can be purchased and used by anyone — veterinarians, trainers, barn owners, practitioners, and individual animal owners alike. However, each state has its own regulations regarding the use of therapeutic modalities on animals, and it is your responsibility to understand the rules in your jurisdiction.
What is required — and what we take seriously — is training. Every MagnaWave machine purchase includes access to our MPower Essentials training program, which covers proper machine use, animal safety protocols, common applications, and contraindications. Full MPower certification is included with purchase and provides a deeper professional credential.

What veterinary regulations apply in my state?
Veterinary regulations vary by state, and the rules around PEMF specifically are evolving as the modality grows. Some states explicitly address PEMF; others do not. As a general principle, PEMF used for general wellness purposes — not for the treatment of a specific medical condition — falls outside the scope of veterinary practice in most jurisdictions.
We recommend checking with your state veterinary board or consulting a veterinary professional familiar with your state’s regulations before offering PEMF as a paid service. MagnaWave certified practitioners are trained on regulatory awareness as part of the MPower program.
Is MagnaWave used by professional equine programs?

Are MagnaWave machines FEI compliant for use at sanctioned equestrian events?
Yes — two MagnaWave machines are compliant with FEI Veterinary Regulations for use at FEI-sanctioned events. The Semi 10 and the Spiro Pulse both operate below the FEI’s electromagnetic field threshold of 0.1 Tesla (1,000 Gauss), which is the requirement under Article 1062 for Non-Restricted Supportive Therapies.
PEMF is classified by the FEI as a Non-Restricted Supportive Therapy — meaning it can be used by support personnel at FEI events without a Permitted Equine Therapist (PET) registration, and does not pose any risk under FEI anti-doping regulations. PEMF introduces no substances into the horse’s body.

No. While both use magnetic fields, the key difference is in delivery method, power, and penetration depth.
Static magnetic products — like magnetic blankets, wraps, or boots — produce a continuous, low-level magnetic field. They can provide mild surface-level support, but the field strength and depth of penetration are significantly limited.

The pulse creates a dynamic, changing field that penetrates far deeper into tissue, reaching muscle, bone, and organs that static devices simply cannot access. What a magnetic blanket might accomplish over several weeks of consistent use, a single MagnaWave session can support in minutes. The difference is not incremental — it is fundamental.
Can MagnaWave help with colic in horses?
MagnaWave should NOT be used on a horse displaying active symptoms of colic until the animal has been assessed by a veterinarian and the cause of the colic has been identified. Colic is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition, and it is essential that a veterinarian evaluate the horse before any supportive therapy is applied.
Once colic has been assessed and the veterinarian has cleared the horse, many practitioners incorporate PEMF as part of the post-colic recovery support protocol. Always follow your veterinarian’s guidance.
